Samhain Dance Ceremony

Join Hope and the EKSTASIS DANCE Community to celebrate the turning of the wheel of the year, and the last quarter of descent into the dark half of the year (in the northern hemisphere.)

In some traditional cultures the end of October (beginning of November) marks the end of the harvest season, the beginning of winter or the fallow time of the year, and a time when the veil between worlds is said to be the thinnest.

In some ancient cultures they believed that any of their departed loved ones would hang out in this realm until Samhain when they could be encouraged and supported to head to the afterlife.

In other cultures it was a time to celebrate and honour all the babes that were born during the last year, as well as any beloved that have passed in the last year.  In many cultures it is also a great time to receive guidance and wisdom from your ancestors.

The ceremony will be a lightly guided dance ritual in which we will move into a natural altered state through movement and breath, and in that space enter into the deep silence of the winter season to listen to the whisperings of our ancestors.

We will also take some time to honour babes that have been born and loved ones that have been lost in the last year.

It will be a time of celebration, of deep listening, and honouring our grief in community. A time to receive wisdom and guidance for the season and year ahead.
